An Update from Joe Garman
Stanley R. Hill, one of our most faithful supporters,
has written the following and I wanted to share it with you.
“The Daughters of Ruth will turn their nation’s hearts to Jesus! When those who support The Daughters of Ruth die, and enter through the ‘Pearly Gates’, countless slant-eyed little girls will crowd around them trying to touch them and get their attention, in order to thank them for leading them to Christ. Others will say, ‘I was never a Daughter of Ruth, but my older sister was, and because you lead her to Jesus, she shared the gospel with me.’ They will cry out, ‘You were the only people on the
planet who really cared for my soul.’ Yes, let’s keep on loving them! Our
present joy and elation in seeing them become Christians is nothing now
compared to what it will be when we meet them in Heaven. Each time one of
these precious little girls comes to Christ He weeps again – for joy.
Those who support The Daughters of Ruth Foundation will not go unrewarded
– what an understatement!”
The Daughters of Ruth will eat three meals a day
because of you. They will sleep between clean sheets and wake-up to
morning devotions. They will go to school and receive an education. They
will be taught sewing skills when they get back to the home and close the
day with evening devotions. They had none of these blessings when they
first came to the home. They were living without Christ, without God, and
without a hope in this world.
The Daughters of Ruth Foundation specializes in
inspiring achievement, ambition and anticipation. After the girls have
been with us a couple of months you almost see the lights come on in their
hearts and minds. For the first time in their young lives they are not
afraid to dream of what might be. They begin to look on the bright side,
there is buoyancy in their step, and the most beautiful thing of all is
that they develop Christian concern for others.
The Daughters of Ruth Foundation is an amazing ministry
that provides healing and a safe place for girls. I thank God that He has
called you and me to this wonderful work. And I thank you for your love
and support.
Note
from Rod: We still need funds
to build our first dorm for the Daughters of Ruth.
If you want a 3-minute DVD
or CD-Windows Media presentation to document and share this need
of the DOR, please reply by email to rodfar@arm.org
or call 573-729-6355. If possible, Joe or I would come to your
church. But we can mail these to you within
days. So please let
us know if you are interested in helping! Thanks so
much! Here is Dear Sourms' latest report: Rapha House has is supporting 50 girls at the center and 16 girls at the Half-way Home for reintegration. There are 66 girls at the center and the Half-way home. There are twenty eight girls of various age groups
being attending the public school this term. They are very happy for their
school, 19 girls attended Khmer literature, 36 attended English class, 15
attended Computer class, they all made their progress on their study,
their life and attitude had been much changing and grow in the Lord.
There are 16 girls at Half-way Home, all of them
received the training on sewing, they are very happy to continue their
skill training on sewing at half way home. They are also learning
more on small business management, computer course, and English course.
The project has been improved for supporting the girls toward
independent living. There are 2 girls at the Half-way Home graduated on
29th of April; both of them are back to work again for their living
because their families are very poor.
Editor's note: Any
support for the new vehicle, the furnishing of the new building,
or increase in operational support is greatly
appreciated!

Back to top Glory to Christ, my beloved brother!
This is my brief report
for April 2008.
1. IMMERSIONS. I have received the letter from bro D. Tkachenko, whom I ordained to be the elder in the church in the prison camp # 102 in Simferopol (Crimea, Ukraine). For the 1-st time in the history of the named penitentionary institution they have had the Christian baptism with full immersion: using the instructions, which I had written to them, they immersed 8 convicts in the barrels in the industrial zone of the camp. On 19.04.2008 I was invited to take part in the sacrament of immersion of 13 people (3 of them – the African students), organized by so called "English-language ministry" in Krasnodar. This ministry has the monthly services in English for different Americans, Englishmen, Africans, etc. to be in Krasnodar (as missionaries, businessmen, students, scholars, etc.). The sacrament was led by Yuri Skopylatov (whom Max Goins had sent to Krasnodar to be a missionary). Max himself was also present there. It was too dangerous to have the ceremony in Krasnodar city itself, thus the organizers had it on the opposite to Krasnodar bank of the Kuban river on the very place, where we prayed with Joe Garman and Max Goins in 2003. That bank belongs administratively to the Adyg Republic, the Government of which is more tolerant to the protestants, than the Krasnodar Territory administration. 2. PRISONS. On 15.04.2008 we spread some amount of the humanitarian aid among the convicts of Krasnodar prison. On 22.04.2008 our daughter Nike with the activists of her youth ministry visited the police orphanage in Krasnodar. The "Memorial" society (the one of the former victims of the political and religious repressions) presented to me 3 computer discs with the information about 2 600 000 convicts, repressed during the Stalin era in USSR. With the help of my contacts to work in the "Public Chamber" of Russian Federation we organized the decision of the Russia Constitutional Court, which declared all court rulings to put the political and religious activists by force into the psychiatric hospitals without the presence of those persons in the court hall during the process to be unconstitutional. Thus, brethren Rizo and Shamparov (both were baptized by me) took this ruling text and began the preparation of the new attempt to liberate bro Krasnobryzhev (also baptized by me), who is now in the Oryol city prison psychiatric hospital. In April the left eye of mine surgery operation took place: they took off the crystalline lense and changed it with the artificial American one (foldable intraocular lense "Restor" of the "Alcon" firm). The necessity of this operation was the result of the torments in prison in 1999 and of the attacks on me in 2003 and 2007. The rehabilitation is going on well. The doctors declared I should be able to have the long distance voyages in May. The right eye will to be treated somewhere in the end of summer. 3. MOSLEMS. Our daughter Nike with some members of her youth ministry visited on 18 – 20.04.2008 the Evangelization conference for Moslems, which took place in the mountain village Wolfram near the Kabarda - Balkaria Republic capital Nalchik. There were about 120 ethnic Moslems participants (Kabardinians, Balkarians, Chechens, Ossetians, Kalmyks, Daghestanians, Usbeks, the students from Pakistan). Nike led there one of the praying and theological discussing groups. On 19.04.2008 we had a meeting with Max Goins and the Shavers family (Jason and Joanna) in Krasnodar. We discussed the possibility for Shavers to visit Abkhazia or even to buy there a house and to become the teachers of English in Sukhumi in the Abkhazian State University. Sure, I am ready to give Shavers my Abkhazian contacts for this project, to accompany them there, etc. Jason took me to the meeting place with his car, he had bought in Krasnodar. During moving I noticed three orthodox icons in his automobile. Jason explained, that he hoped those idols would help him in the relations with the Russian police officers. I do not accept such an approach spiritually: "an idol is nothing in the world" (1 Cor. 8:4) – "what say I then? That which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?" (1 Cor. 10:19) – "But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils" (1 Cor. 10:20). Dear brethren in Christ Jesus, With great gratitude in my heart, I wish you are enjoying God's wonderful and many blessings. Today, I visited the north part of Mexico City. It is so painful to see many drunks, drug addicts, and so much pornography on the streets there. In a sense, it is humbling and nasty because many people suffer from very low esteem, and a lack of identity. However, I was glad to speak to 130 people about God's wonderful Word. His Word is so important for us all! Most of the people who listened to me run their own small businesses. I was so encouraged to see 113 people come to the Lord's feet! I am so glad God is allowing us to experience how He is claiming His children back from Satan's domain. 64 people got baptized in the Hispanic world, who heard the Word through our ministry. Besides, I baptized seven people at the Church where I minister, Satélite, Cuernavaca. We are grateful to the Lord as 69 people graduated from our Bible Correspondence Courses. Now, they are equipped for God's work! A great example is Emma Vera. She has dedicated herself to visiting different hospitals in Mexico City to preach and teach the Word there. She devoted all Saturday to the Word. She is so committed and dedicated to sharing the Good News from Above. She is smiling all the time and serving the sick at the various hospitals. She enjoys that very much! Each month, we reach at least one more jail. However, during April, we reached two. One is in Cuautitlán Estado de México and the other one is in the state of Colima. Each one of them have 114 and 82 inmates respectfully. It is encouraging to see these inmates share with their relatives what they are learning concerning God's Word. One of them, Antonio Sepúlveda (in Colima), wrote us saying, "My very dear true friends, I am so grateful to you as you have come to us and shared with us God's wonderful Word. His wisdom is so powerful indeed! Since childhood, I was told not to read the Bible. I am so grateful that I overcame such fear of opening a Bible because I am finding so much for my life now. If I had read the Bible in my youth, I would not be in this jail right now. I lacked so much advice, but now I am learning a lot with you, and on every day basis. Please do not forsake us and keep teaching us what we need. I want to grow more and more in the knowledge of Christ. I promise to renew myself and you will see new people coming out from jail, to serve others, as you are doing right now..." Our students in Chila, state of Puebla had requested our visits time after time. Gregorio García Barrón insisted so much! He got so excited when I told him I was going to visit them. So, Francisco D'Gante and I rode a bus from Mexico City to Chila. It took us five hours to get there. Most people in this town speak Spanish, but around one thousand speak Náhuatl and Mixteco. This place has a little over 5,000 inhabitants. The road there is narrow and so winding. I got kind of sick from my stomach due to so many curves. It is so hot there that we had our meeting in a big palm tree leaves house, without walls. 47 people welcomed us with hugs and pats in the back. Their love is so encouraging! We had not seen each other before, but our communications had only been through letters and our Bible Correspondence Lessons. These people have met for eight months already, to share God's Word together. They wanted to learn how to have a Church Service. They want to learn how to worship God! We spent 28 hours sharing with them about the Christian doctrine, how to have a Church Worship Service, how to sing praises to the Lord, stewardship, our Christian walk, and so on. We stopped to sleep some hours and to eat. We had BBQ goat. But, the cooking of this meat is in a hot hole made in the ground. We had corn atole with brown sugar, huge corn tortillas, armadillo in a hot spicy red sauce, and iguana tamales. At the end of our meetings, and before we headed back to Mexico City, we had a crowd of 90 people. They cried, hugged us, and kept begging us to return soon. They are eager to learn a lot more about God's Word! We came back to Mexico City full of energies and with a great desire to pray for these people, who are learning about God because of you and our ministry together. During April, I had nine different meetings with the same number of Churches, as they are requesting a preacher. These brethren are walking in faith, as they do not have the resources to pay the salary of a full time preacher, but they wish to have one. The work is titanic, but we have faith. God will provide! The appointed ministers are eager to work for the Lord, even though they know that they will suffer hunger, persecution, hardships, thirst, lack of sleep, weakness, and many other shortages. At times, they will have to walk or ride very old buses. Please help us pray for these ministers and our Churches in different places and areas in Mexico. God provides, and that is all we have to know! Your prayers are so much needed in this area. I am so grateful for your prayers.
