ARM's Rapha House (Home for Girls) in Cambodia

Part of Stephanie Freed's Christmas letter:

"We hope you are all enjoying a very blessed Christmas season! Having recently returned from Cambodia, and Rapha House, I want to take a moment to bring you greetings from the girls and staff.

This is a new holiday for the Christians in Cambodia. Cambodia is a Buddhist nation, where people struggle every day to merit reward in the next life. The reality that a Savior came into this world to save them is a beautiful testimony for our girls to share. It will be the first time that some of them have ever celebrated the birth of Christ.

I thought of you all as I spent time with the girls at Rapha House. I never take my time with them for granted. I know that I am there as your ambassador and as the ambassador of Jesus. They are my sisters and my daughters. They want to laugh and learn and live. Thank you for allowing them to have those opportunities through your continued prayer and financial support."

Learning  to sew at Rapha House

ARM is ministering to needy girls -- some as young as 8 years of age -- who have been victimized in the human slave trade in  Cambodia thru the Rapha House.  Gifts of any size for Rapha House may be sent to ARM, Rt. 5 Box 159, Salem, MO  65560.

Report From Dr. Nicholas E. Alyoshin-- ARM Branch Ministry in Russia

Glory to Christ, my beloved brother! This is my brief report for November 2005.

1.  IMMERSIONS. Our dearly beloved bro K. Meshchishin, having been released from prison, has begun to work in the organization to help the immigrants. In cooperation with his organization and the DOM ARM we immersed a man from Tajikistan, whom we helped to be liberated from the police arrest. On 23.11.05 I led the special seminar on immersion, organized by the editorial board of the local newspaper  Eye of Light" for the leaders of the free Spiritual communities of Krasnodar.
2.   PRISONS. On 02.11.05 the most known London newspaper "Financial Times" published the letter of Khodorkovskiy about the political convicts in Russian prisons. The Krasnodar "Christian Newspaper" wrote about the attempts of the guards to poison the convicts repressed on religious basis. On 01.11.05 the mutiny took place in 7 prison camps of Kirghizia (former Soviet republic, now independent). The organization of the victims of tortures, filtrations and illegal arrests - "The Beaten Russia" - organized a picket in Moscow and then in Krasnodar with the demand of resignation of Kalinin - the chief of Russian prison system. The members of ARM took part In both pickets. On 13.11.05 a hunger strike to protest against the murder of a convict by the guards took place in the prison camp in Samara area (1500 km to NE from Krasnodar). On 21.11.05 the convicts burned the prison in Stavropol (300 km to NE from Krasnodar). We received the information, that 50 000 arrested persons passed through Krasnodar city investigation prison in 2005. In November DOM ARM five times managed to visit the penitentiary institutions in Krasnodar and Territory (including the camp for arrested illegal immigrants on the Black Sea coast; the camp for the isolated former drug addicts in the
mountains of Seversky district; the prisons and camps in Krasnodar). I also took part twice in the court sessions to support the people, whom the authorities tried to repress on religious basis.

3.  TURKS. On 14.11.05 a meeting to protest the xenophobia took place in front of the house of Sarvar Tedorov in Varenikovskaya village (we visited that house in 2003 with Joe Garman and Max Goins). The Meskhetian Turks (Ahiska), as well as the Crimean Tatars, and Kurds took part in it. Sarvar left to USA in November. The other Ahiska Turk from Varenikovskaya - Umar, - who met us with Joe and Max in 2003, is now in Albrun near Seattle, Washington state. He received in 2003 the Holy Bible in Turkish (Kutsal Kitap") and brought it with him to USA. He rang me up with many thanks and said, he and his family prayed for us and for ARM daily. His phone is 1+25 33 33 69 44. It would have been great for ARM to contact him in USA.

4.  MISSION TRIPS. The Tajik man, saved and immersed through cooperation of ARM and Meshchishin organization left to Tajikistan (former Soviet republic, now independent, Central Asia), having the desire to preach Christ there. The other brother, also found with the help of K. Meshchishin, went to preach Christ in Yakutia (7500 km to NEE from
Krasnodar).

5.MEDITATIONS. The writer and poet Igor Isaev, immersed by me this year, has published a book of poetry, "Watching the Eternity", which contains about 150 poems, being his meditations over the verses of the Bible. The book also contains the acknowledgements to me for the Spiritual support to the poet. The book was published on his own money.

6.  DIVINE  ACTION. About 10 people around my dearly beloved friend and bro Prof.. Dr. Sc. G.N. Rakhimov were arrested in Taskent by Usbek authorities (in the frame of the so called  Andizhan case"). They are being terribly tormented in prison. But Prof.. Rakhimov was not arrested. I asked my dearly beloved brother pastor G. Leiser (Karlsruhe, Germany) to pray for Rakhimov. G. Leiser wrote to the German Embassy about this case. The revealed interest of the Tashkent German Embassy has saved Prof.. Rakhimov from arrest until now. Now we are trying to collect money to support him in material sphere. The Spiritual net, including ARM, and its' Russian branch, and Germany Evangelium Christians, and Tashkent structures, has worked. It is the true Divine Action!

7.  STUDENT  WING. The praying group of students of the Kuban State University (Krasnodar) with my daughter Nike to be a leader prays every day. They took part in a big Evangelization in the University campus, and in a visit to Krasnodar orphanage. They also prayed for the American students of Rod Powell group in Nalchik, whom the police tried to accuse in the violation of the rules of foreigners presence in Russia.

8.  INFORMATION  ACTIVITY. Local newspapers published 3 articles on DOM ARM activity, including 2 photos of mine. Once I was shown by local TV. The information on my participation in October meeting in Tuapse was put into one of the Russian Federal web-sites. I took part in the seminar on the freedom of mass-media, led by  Moscow School of Political Studies" (connected with British Embassy) in Krasnodar on 02-03.11.05. I led there one of 4 teams to take part in the training game to imitate the newspaper activity. We chose the strategy to be based on Christian morality principles - and we won the game! On 24.11.05 I spoke about ARM during the meeting with Mr.. Zaitsev - the advisor of the Governor on human rights. On 14.11.05 I took part in the meeting with US professor Kim Tannicleaf - the vice-President of the Middle West and Great Lakes colleges association. He spoke on the US foreign policy, I informed him on DOM ARM. On 15.11.05 I gave an interview to Amanda Allen (1713 Slewert St., Red Wing, MN 55066, allena@stolaf.edu). She is now studying Russian situation in Krasnodar, in Kuban State University, trying to compare the situation in USSR and in today Russia. In Minnesota she was connected with prison ministry. On 24.11.05 one of the contacts of DOM ARM - Galina V. Grushko - received her PH.D. in Technological University (Krasnodar). She is of the family of the Christians (of the so called  Pomorian branch of non-having-priests old-believers", in Russian  "bespopovtsy." She has been cooperating with us for some years.

9.  REPRESSIONS. On 19.11.05 the Governor newspaper  Kuban News" published an article, saying,  the Evangelization of Moslems, including spreading of the Bible, translated into their languages, is the recruiting of the agents by the geopolitical competitor of Russia. Bro Rizo, immersed by me in this August, has begun to enlist the victims of political and religious repressions in his district. Orthodox metropolitan Isidor in his special speech, published in his official newspaper, called the political police to stop the TV activity of the  Church of Christ" in Sochi (Black Sea resort, where President used to have a rest). On 19-20.11.05 V. Gubin - the leader of the humanitarian organization to help the children of Chechen refugees (he has been cooperating with us for some years) was put into the detention. Now he is free, but his property and the archives are arrested. On 30.11.05 V. Tikhomirov died of the heart attack. He was a prominent public figure and a writer (about 15 books, more than 700 articles) of 73 years. Since 2004 he was in our net Eucharistic communion, preaching the Religious Freedom and fighting the idolatry. The orthodox icon-worshippers pressed on him terribly since he had become the partaker of the divine nature (2 Pet. 1:4) through First Christian Church, Krasnodar, Russia. Tikhomirov's anti-idolatry articles will stay with us to be the armament in the Spiritual War.

10.  SUPPORT. Prof. Golovin (Crimea, Ukrain, Ziden Nutt's representative there) sent to me a collection of new booklets on creationism. We received also the letters of support from S. Ryabchikov and from Prof. Rakhimov (Tashkent, Usbekistan; he also telephoned 2 times), and the very kind letter from pastor G. Leiser of Karlsruhe (Germany). We received the support for October through the Max Goins of  "We-Go" mission coalition.

MERRY  CHRISTMAS  AND  HAPPY  NEW  YEAR! --   Prof., DOM ARM chaplain Nicholas E. Alyoshin

Dear brethren in Christ Jesus,

May the powerful love of our God reign in your lives, allowing you to celebrate His wonders.

In Mexico and in Latin America, where Catholicism is the main religion, people celebrate the Day of the Dead on November 2nd.  Even, the poorest home sets up a food altar for the dead relatives “come and partake” of the riches of food and drinks.  These altars have flowers, delicacies, drinks, fruit, and so on.  They are fancy decorated and lighted candles show the way to the food.  Chanting and worship to dead take place for long hours.  Firecrackers are part of these celebrations also.  The different saints are part of the celebration, together with what they call “The Saint Death.”  The celebration lasts for a whole week.  Then, from November 20th and up to December 12th, people pilgrimage to the Shrine of Guadalupe, who is taken as the Mother of Latin Americans.  This is just a brief summary of all that goes on during these festivities.  Streets are closed and the environment goes wild all over.  All the three main television companies broadcast the celebration for hours.  This is a great opportunity for us to preach the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  We are so grateful to the Lord, as souls are being changed no matter what.

We had 26 baptisms during November.  Most of these people went through a real struggle as they made the decision to follow Jesus Christ.  Opposition comes from family, friends, relatives, work companions, schoolmates, and other people.  Please help me pray, specifically, for three young men.  They are Asunción Hernández (19), Anastacio Román (22), and Claudio Sifuentes (20).  They accepted Jesus Christ gladly, but they face the problem of being kicked out of their homes.  They are on their own now.  They do not have the support from their families to further their secular education.  They are insulted and mocked at even by their own families.  Please help us pray for other brethren under the same situation as well.  Some have suffered for being Christians, up to three years of peer pressure and mockery.

In Oriental, State of Puebla, brother Isidro Álvarez needs our prayers.  He is 34 years old.  He suffered the devastating forces of the recent hurricanes; besides, he is being persecuted because of his faith in the Lord.  He had to leave his possessions, crops, and home due to his faith in God.  He was told that he can gain his possessions back, only if he goes back to the old form of participation worshipping the town’s Saint (El Santo Patrono).  He must renounce to his faith in Jesus Christ and declare himself, publicly, a Roman Catholic, if he wishes to be accepted back in town.  The amazing grace of God is giving him strength and he has said he will remain faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ, even to the point of dead.

One of the jails with a great hunger for God’s Word is the one in Tlalnepantla, Estado de México.  We have 148 inmates studying God’s Word there.  Our Bible Students are showing changes now, especially in their behavior.  They are becoming good citizens now.  They are working and studying inside this jail, and showing their Christian faith.

At the Institute known as Instituto José Vasconcelos, in Mexico City, they are using our Bible Correspondence Courses to study Ethics and Philosophy.  They do not go through our courses in their classrooms, but they are using them as support materials to study at home.  Students get an extra point if they show proof of finishing one of our lessons.  Here, we have 518 young people going through our courses, who are in between 16 and 21 years old.  Most of them did not know anything about the Bible.  We are encouraged to see how they are learning God’s Word now.  They are so happy to read and study the Bible in their homes, using our written lessons.

Riding the bus from Cuernavaca to Mexico City, to work, I met a high police officer, Commander Benítez.  He is the chief of one of the areas at the Judicial Police Office in Mexico City.  I shared the Word and our ministry with him.  He got so interested that he will share our lessons with his subordinates.  Most policemen in Mexico live damaged lives.  They have many marriage problems, are involved in drugs and crime themselves, and so on.  Please help me pray for them.  Only God’s Word can change lives.

I thank you for your prayers on our behalf.  Thanks for your prayers for our ministry.  Let’s continue serving the Lord Jesus Christ together.

Your servant in Jesus Christ,  Alfredo José Aparicio sozarito@gmail.com
