Daughters of Ruth Girls' Home in Chiang Mai, Thailand

We want to thank you all who are giving to maintain our operating fund AND for giving toward the building of our new dorm. The good news is that we are meeting our monthly obligations.  The bad news is that we have not yet raised adequate funds to move us closer to starting construction.  We continue to trust God and His timing.  Now here is the first "Meet the Girls" feature; we will be including biographical summaries of our girls so you can know them more personally.

The Daughters of Ruth Foundation is the only mission of its kind in Thailand. It is officially registered as an NGO with the Thai government and is licensed as a safe house for pre-teenage and teenage girls who:
have both parents in prison
have one parent deceased and the other one in prison
have one parent imprisoned and the other one living below the Thai poverty level
or have recently been released from jail or prison and have no one to care for them.
The Daughters of Ruth Foundation is located in Chiangmai. They come to us from years of abuse, distrust, fear and shame. Like Ruth, they were living under a curse, but not one that God placed on them. They want to step out of the curse and into the blessing, but they don’t know how. The Daughters of Ruth have no family or friends to support them and no clue how to start over. They currently live in a rented three-story townhouse. It costs less for us to clothe, educate, feed and house these twenty girls than it does for the government to rehabilitate one adult prisoner.

As you read their stories please note that they all have nicknames. This is Thai culture and tradition. Also note that most want to enter the medical profession because there was, and still is, little medical assistance in their remote mountain villages. They want to return and minister to their people.

PALINEE
Nickname:  Fah
Birthday:  September 6, 1996
Age:  12
Siblings:  3
Grade:  7
Father:  Serving 25 years for drug trafficking
Mother:  At home living below the Thai poverty level
Nature:  Friendly but hot-tempered
Interest:  Social studies
Hobby:  Sketching pictures and reading
Talents:  Traditional Thai dancing and singing
Goal:  To serve the Lord by becoming a medical doctor
Favorite Scripture:  “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21
Entered Daughters of Ruth home:  May 26, 2006
Brought to us by:  The head of the sub-district City Council
History:  Palinee was sold to the parents she has now. She does not know who her real parents are. Then her parents had their own children so stopped caring for Palinee. Her primary school teacher reported this to the city council and asked them to help her find a new home. So the City Council brought her to the Daughters of Ruth.

Rapha House in Cambodia

IMPORTANT NOTE:  With the wonderful growth of the work at Rapha and the development of their own web site and email network, this will be the last issue of the ARM Branch Report that will contain a Rapha House update.  RAPHA CONTINUES TO NEED YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT!

We encourage all of you to write to Stephanie Freed (sfreed@arm.org) -- USA Director of Rapha House, or Kerry Decker (raphahouse@pacbell.net ) Dir. of the Rapha House Freedom Foundation, and request to receive email or postal updates.  You may also go to www.raphahouse.org

Stephanie Freed, USA Director of Rapha House, has just arrived in Cambodia.  We look forward to her report in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, here is a reminder about the needs of these girls and the impact the work has had upon the lives of these precious souls for whom Jesus died. Stephanie wrote this some time ago but it reminds us how important this work is.

I stood in the searing heat and watched the girls play and scream with laughter. It sounded like heaven to me. I watched two sisters, who were sold and rescued together from the same brothel, have a very long and loud splash fight. I watched as four of the littlest girls linked arms again and again and fell laughing into the shallowest end of the pool. This is what healing sounds like. It sounds like the laughter of children.

There was a time, in the not so distant past, when there was no laughter in the lives of these girls. Today, they have a safe place to live. For the little ones, it is an opportunity to have the childhood that Satan tried to rob them of. For the older girls, it is an opportunity to plan for their futures. For all of them, it is an opportunity to know Christ who is their only hope. I cannot thank you enough for making this possible for the Rapha House girls.

I know ARM's program at the Rapha House in Cambodia changes lives. I am thankful to represent this ministry and receive your prayer and financial support as we continue to reach these girls for whom Christ died and rose again -- one heart at a time.

ARM Russian Report

Glory to Christ, my beloved brother! This is my brief report for December 2008.

    1. IMMERSIONS. On the Christmas day 25.12.2008 we immersed a middle-age businesswoman. She is a niece of the chairman of one of the Jewish congregations in Krasnodar. Her husband is in prison, being convicted for a 20 years term. One of our chaplaincy ministers has been preaching to this woman for some years.

    2. PRISONS. This month the DOM ARM ministers had 14 visits to different prisons and camps and 8 meetings with the relatives and representatives of the arrested people. I visited one man, who had spent in a prison more, than 10 years, and thricely had run from different camps during this period. I also twice met the father of a young man, arrested by the anti-drug police. This man is sure that the case of his son has been falsified; thus, he organized some pickets in front of the Territorial Directorate of the anti-drug police. For this activity he was administratively arrested for
some hours himself.

The DOM ARM supported the campaign of protests against the murder of the convicted Oleg Soldatenko by the camp guards in Surgut town of Tyumen area (Western Siberia) on 17.12.2008.

    3. MOSLEMS. On  21.12.2008 the Volga Tatars (Bulgars) National Assembly ("Milli Mejlis") – the unrecognized by Russian Government public body – declared the national independence of the Tatar State. Their Mejlis had a session in a town of Naberezhniye Chelny (2,500 km North – North-East from Krasnodar). This session also established the "Milli Nazarat" (the national Tatar Government in exile) with Wil Mirzayanov ahead (in 1992 this Tatar scientist was arrested by the Russian authorities, as a "spy"; he was released in 1994; in 1996 he emigrated to the USA). In connection with this Tatar event the Russian Government suggested to the Parliament to issue a
law to qualify any separatist public activity to be a high treason. This development shows clearly the importance of our work with the repressed Moslem groups, including different Tatar ones.

Happy New Year!

In Jesus our hope! Sincerely, DOM ARM (www.ARM.org) chaplain, prof., etc. Nicholas E. Alyoshin

ARM Mexican Report

Dear and precious brethren in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,

God is faithful, cares and protects us always. This has been our experience in the ministry. I’ve known the cases of three Christian families who one of its members have been kidnapped and tortured. This has happened in 2009 only. These families have paid big amounts of Money to get their relatives back. I praise God for His protecting hand over my family and me. He has maintained us serving Him in this ministry!

Now, let me share with you a brief report of our ministry in 2008:

We are teaching the Word of God in 98 jails, where we have 16,822 inmates studying. Due to the real rehabilitation process the Word of God has caused, 326 inmates were put free for their good behavior.

A great result from our Bible Lessons inside jails is that the Director from the Military Prison 1 donated us a piece of property inside this jail to build a chapel. This is the first time this happens. Can you imagine a small church building inside a jail! Praise God for this! Our students in this jail started the building process right away! It is sad that we are not allowed to take pictures to send you. I am so encouraged by this, as I can see God’s wonderful and powerful hand in all happening inside this jail! Our God does work in marvelous ways!

During 2008 we:

Registered 32,145 new students in our Bible Correspondence Courses,
Distributed and handed out 78,600 Bible tracts,
Broadcasted 104 hours of God’s Word on radio,
Sent 3,128 Bibles to people who did not have one yet,
Reached 15 universities, both public and private education, with our Bible lessons,
Saw 1,196 of our students graduate from the first series (10) of Bible lessons,
Had 397 students graduate from our advanced (36 lessons) courses,
Counseled 876 people who needed spiritual and psychological help, plus served our fellow pastors and ministers with different problems they were facing.
Planted 7 new Churches,
Sent, through the snail mail, around 3,600 packages with our lessons, which represented a cost of $3,240.00 dollars in postage a month.

During the last quarter of 2008, our work load increased a lot. Besides, I had to treat three young people suffering from schizophrenia. All these activities were a great burden on all of us working at the office. I treated many ministers and gave counseling to pastors and church leaders. I preached at the dedication of two new Church buildings. I visited areas with flooded situations and helped distribute goods. Plus all this, we had many activities in the Church due to the end of the year. So, I got very sick during the last week in December. I felt so weak, no matter the medicine and vitamins in my treatment. But, I recovered just fine after all!

The good news to start the year was that the two men suffering from schizophrenia were completely healed. True feeding on the Word of God changes people and produces healing. This was the case of these two men. They are in between 20 and 26 years old. I attacked the problem by asking their close relatives and some of our advanced students to pray for them. Reading the Word, fasting and praying did the work. All these people who helped in this regard received, from me, the Bible texts to read in their daily devotionals and fasting and prayers.

Please help me pray, fervently, for the following:

That God provides the needed resources to continue ministering to others through this ministry (postage expenses, Xerox machine, printing of our lessons and courses, Bibles, paper, a suitable place for our office, and so on).

A mile from our office, a group of our Bible Students started meeting in a loaned gym. However, they grew up to 300 people and need a bigger place, plus the gym owner is asking them to leave his facilities. Please pray for a place where they can meet. Our idea is to see if we could buy a bigger place for them and for our office. Please help me pray for this need!

Pray for wisdom for me. Due to the 93 churches we have planted in our ministry, I need to take decisions in this regard (appoint church leaders, train church leaders, solve problems among the brethren, and so on). I need God’s guidance in His huge Field!

Pray for some churches in the States of Hidalgo, Chiapas, Oaxaca and Guerrero. They are going through persecution. Some of the hardships our brethren are facing are that, when they become Christians, they cannot keep their properties, their children cannot get an education, they are pressure to contribute with money for the town pagan festivities, their meeting places and churches are destroyed, and so on.

I am so grateful to you for your contribution and ministering through us in Mexico. The Kingdom of God is indeed growing fast nowadays!

We love you in Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior!   --  Alfredo José Aparicio

ARM Korean Report

Loving greetings to you in Jesus precious name. I pray God for you get still amazing grace on 2009.

I deeply appreciate your pray and support last year. I could perform ministries for prisons, reformatories, the released and family of prisoners owing to you. These days, Korea comes to a crisis for some reasons. There is on the increase to ask our help and support on account of adversity in Korea. This ministry doesn't interest by anyone. But Our Lord has helped us to do missionary works for prisoners in spite of decrease in mission money!

As you know, we usually visit 9 prisons and 2 reformatories 15 times a month. We preach to them, support the bibles and books about the religion, counsel and help training discipleship.

Christmas Gift for Prisoners 2008

The Center of Sharing Gifts of Love (Angel's Tree) is sending Christmas presents to the prisoners and their families of 7 prisons and Juvenile prisons. They are reaching out to almost 2,000 people.

They shared the joy of the Christmas and had a wonderful time with the fellowship and the gifts.

The Medical Operation for the Foreign Prisoner Supported

One of the Chinese prisoners has been sick and had got an operation at the Gunyang Hospital of Daejeon City. He had been hospitalized for 6 days and recovered.
