 Rapha House
Homes for Girls in SE Asia

IMPORTANT NOTE: With the wonderful growth of the work at Rapha, we are including updates in this foreign report!  However, be advised that due to the sensitive nature of our work, there will be no photos of the girls or details that could compromise security.  Thanks for understanding.

"Like a Shower of Blessings in a Dry Land"

Stephanie Freed, USA Director of the Rapha House

Greetings from SE Asia!  I am attending a leadership conference with some of our key native management team.  It is very hot in this part of the world at the end of the dry season, and our minds are overwhelmed with strategy sessions and vision casting for the ministry of Rapha House.

I find myself constantly thirsty here in the heat and dry dirt which seems to be everywhere.  The people are looking at the sky in anticipation.  They are waiting for the rain which will settle the dust and turn the brown earth to green.  It will bring a fresh scent.  It will bring beauty and hope for a good harvest.

God has blessed Rapha House with an incredible ministry to broken children, but it is not an easy ministry.  This work, as you already know, is very difficult and can be very painful.  Our girls come to us physically and emotionally devastated.  But in the past few days, I have had the opportunity to meet some of the newest Rapha girls.  I have been able to hold them in my arms and represent a mother’s love to them.  I have had the opportunity to hold their little hands and laugh with them.  For me, these are the moments which are cool drinks in a difficult ministry.  Even as I write this letter, we have just received word that ten new girls are being brought to one of our new safe houses.  For me, this is a cool rain shower bringing the fresh scent of hope and healing.

I am so grateful for your partnership which is the reason that ten young girls are even right now coming to safety.  Please take a moment, and enjoy this cool drink of water, and a fresh rain shower.

ARM's Baptistries Around the Globe

Over the years, ARM has donated hundreds of baptistries to mission fields around the world -- as well as donating units to prisons and military bases.  Just in the last few issues of this report, you've seen such units used in Mexico, Cuba, the Philippines, and Cambodia.

We know there will be many requests in 2010 for more baptistries for mission fields, prisons, and military bases.

At $795 per unit for portable baptistries and $975 for Communion Table Baptistries, we will invest tens of thousands of dollars in building and donating these units.

If you, your Sunday School class, or your church could sponsor even one of these, that would be terrific.  If you can only make a gift toward this baptistry fund, that would be greatly appreciated as well.  Thanks for your prayers and support.

News from Mexico

From ARM's Alfredo Jose Aparicio

Dear friends and partners in sharing the Wonderful Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ,

There is, indeed, no One as our Lord, Who keeps us safe due to His great and eternal love. He protects us from many perils in life.

During March we received 2,214 new requests for our Bible Correspondence Courses. We are so happy to see many people interested in studying God’s Word.  However, we worry that we do not have enough printed lessons to send out to meet the needs of all these people. We are so happy to learn that Bro. Paul Tisdel is doing so good in the church he is helping in Cancun, Mexico. Bro. Tisdel ministers South Memorial Christian Church in San Antonio, Texas. He requested 100 of our lessons to take to Cancun, recently. When we do not have the printed lessons, we send only a sample of each lesson to be xeroxed. This is one way of meeting the need for our courses. We know that our printed materials are much needed, and missions and churches can copy our materials without any problem. Hispanics are benefiting from our courses in great ways!

In March, we had 93 baptisms. It is amazing that these new born are living in countries where opposition to studying the Word of God is stronger, such as Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, and the Southeast of Mexico.

Also, we had 124 students graduate from our basic Bible courses. Again, our students who graduated belong to Cuba, Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, and the Southeast of Mexico.

On March 28th, the Anonymous Alcoholics group held its annual meeting in Jiutepec, State of Morelos. There, they discussed what has helped them the most in their treatment of alcoholics. Amazingly, they mentioned that it has been our Bible Lessons which have helped the most. This is, alcoholics are taught God’s Word using our lessons. This way of treating them has caused them to change their lives for better. Real and lasting changes have been the result of the Word of God in these lives. Rehabilitation is real using the Bible as a text. Indeed, God’s Word is alive and effective!

Our ministry in jails has been slow in the past months. Now, we are facing problems to minister due to problems with drug dealers in Mexico. Crime is related to drugs, and this has made it more difficult to get inside jails to preach. These problems are reaching inmates, which is making things worse. Authorities are making it tougher to visit inmates. However, we are getting more requests for our Bible lessons from inmates. During this month alone we had 468 requests. We are putting our best efforts in supplying these needs, as the Word of God is a MUST in our lives, and in conducting people to Christ’s feet!

I have requested your prayers for our ministry and for my family before. Now, I do it again, as crime and social unrest is getting worse in Mexico. I am so thankful to you because of your prayers. Again, I ask of your eager prayers. Crime is increasing so fast in Mexico. The government cannot stop it! Drug dealers are taking control of the country, especially in some areas. Delinquency is taking control. Kidnappings are happening every day. The local, state, and federal police are not capable of controlling all this. People are found dead on the streets, hanged under bridges, or shot. During Easter, a boy drowned in a dam near our house. Divers were hired to look for the body. To our amazement, these divers found 40 dead bodies in the water. All these 40 people had been reported missing.  They were kidnapped and killed. Our society is in danger at all times. People fear the worse every day when they leave their homes to go to work. Some people have in mind that it is better for the US Army to come and try to stop all crime in Mexico.

Also, please pray for more funds to print more of our much needed lessons. Many people are eager to study our lessons, and we must provide them with our Christian Literature.

God bless abundantly, your coworker in Christ Jesus,

Alfredo José Aparicio

ARM's Branch Ministry in Russia

Report From Dr. Nicholas E. Alyoshin

Glory to Christ, my beloved brother!

IMMERSIONS. On Sunday 18.04.2010 I had a meeting with Eugene Kwasnikov – the 1-st elder of the Brotherhood of Lord’s Friends, whom I had ordained in April 1999. For three years I have not been in contact with him, I even suspected, he was not alive. But he appeared and informed me, he had actively been working in prison camps and prisons in the North Caucasus, in Volga region, and even in Siberia (in Krasnoyarsk Territory, which one had been about 20 years ago visited by the ARM President Joe Garman). During three last years bro Kwasnikov immersed 15 prisoners and ordained 3 new elders of our Brotherhood.

PRISONS. Bro Kwasnikov came to me, as he said, “to pray together before his death”, because the medical doctors had informed him, he would soon die of the cancer. We prayed together; we read the 23rd Psalm (“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me” – Ps. 23:4); for a long time he was in a silent praying meditation, having my hands put on his head. He left me, being deeply pacified and blessing Jesus, blessing our Brotherhood and DOM ARM.

This month our ministers visited 5 prisons; once visited the psychiatric hospital of the prison type. I had also the meeting with 3 public inspectors, entrusted by the Russia Public Chamber to control the situation with the human rights in prisons.

MOSLEMS. On Friday 09.04.2010 pastor Dr. G. Leiser (Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany), accompanied by me and by bro V. Sterchow, visited the “khutba” (sermon) in the Moslem congregation of the Kurmanch-sheikh Hassan-hadji Gurji-oglu (village Kabardinskaya of the Apsheronsk district of the Krasnodar Territory). The sheikh preached on Jesus in Quran. After the khutba we had the “sokhbet” (the friends dinner with the spiritual talk) in the house of the sheikh. Pastor Leiser brought to Hassan-hadji the new copies of the New Testament and Psalms in the Kurdish language (“Incil u Zebur”), donated by the Karlsruhe Kurds community, speaking the Kurmanch (Curmanji) dialect of the Kurdish language. The sheikh’s brother Mamed read aloud the 149-th Psalm in Kurdish (“Pesne Xudan bidin!”), and I read the same text in Russian (“Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song”, etc.). All the participants were deeply impressed. We finished the meeting with the mutual prayer.

MISSION  TRIPS. The DOM ARM took part in the organization of the new Apostolic visit of pastor Leiser to the Western Caucasus. During the visit (01.04.2010 – 20.04.2010) he covered more, than 2 000 km (the cars and the drivers were presented by local brethren) and visited the Evangelical congregations and the groups of Kurds, Adygs and Circassians in Krasnodar, Novorossiysk (Black sea coast), Armavir, Kabardinskaya (all – Krasnodar Territory), in Stavropol, Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk (all – Stavropol Teritory), in Cherkessk and Ust-Jighuta (the Karachai-Cherkessk Republic). Gerhard Leiser is 81 now, but the Lord Almighty uses him, as the powerful Spiritual tool to advance the Kingdom of Jesus!

MEDITATIONS. The Moscow Patriarchate idolatrists like very much the obscure tradition to have the painted boiled eggs to eat during Easter. This year they produced all over Russia about 5 million of the special small icons to be stuck on the eggs to “introduce the orthodoxy”. Thus, when the people tried to eat such a boiled egg with the icon, it was necessary to cut or to tear the picture. Therefore, the icon-worshippers organized the destroying of 5 millions of icons during the Easter of 04.04.2010. It was the greatest iconoclastic action in all the Russia history! The idolatrists curse and persecute the iconoclasts. But “the Lord thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee” (Deut., 30:7).

DIVINE  ACTION. The Russian authorities have launched a new big campaign to persecute the non-orthodox believers. They, e.g., began to prohibit some books (with the special court rulings it is not let keep those books, store and sell them, read and spread them, etc.). On 08.12.2009 the Supreme Court of Russia issued the ruling to prohibit the book “Life – how has it appeared? By evolution or by creation?” (edited by “Watch tower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania” in 1992, in Rus.). The book is the Jehovists one. But, in any case, it is the first book on creationism, prohibited in modern Russia. The ban of this book produced a very interesting result: very many people (especially University students) began to be interested in creationism! And our youth “NIKA” – ministry gathered a big group of students (about 50 participants) to have a seminar on creationism.

On 21.04.2010 I led such a seminar; I commented verse by verse the 1-st chapter of the “Genesis”, showing, that the Bible had no contradiction with the modern science. I also answered numerous questions. Thus, the action of the Russian Government woke the interest in the creationism and in my personal scientific results. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose” (Rom., 8:28). This is the Divine Action, indeed! The Lord is at hand! (Phil., 4:5) – Maranatha! (1 Cor., 16:22).

7. YOUTH  MINISTRY. In Russia they have the idolatric ethnic tradition “to feed the dead”, i.e. to eat and to drink vodka on the graves on the so called “Radonitsa” or “the Parents Day” on Monday or on Tuesday in a week after the Easter. This year it was on 12.04.2010 and 13.04.2010. On these days our youth ministry members visited two big grave-yards in Krasnodar and one in Slavyansk-on Kuban (70 km W–N–W from Krasnodar). The young Christians spread about 2 000 leaflets about Jesus and resurrection. The text was written by our daughter Nike. All the leaflets were taken with eager interest – in calling itself “the orthodox country” Russia the population, in fact, is involved into the idolatry and into the cult of the familiar spirits. The people here do not know Christ! But they want to know Him. We are the crusaders in the land of the wicked. Pray for us, brethren!

PUBLIC  RELATIONS. The Governor of the Krasnodar Territory A.N. Tkachyov is interested very much in the improvement of the image of his Territory (and of Russia in general) abroad, e.g. among the members of the Christian Democratic Union party of Germany. Thus, I had informed him about the future visit of G. Leiser, and the Governor Tkachyov, when he published his congratulations with the Easter (the Governor newspaper “Kuban News” – in. Rus. “Kubanskie Novosty” – 03.04.2010, Num. 54 – 4642, p. 1) mentioned not only the orthodoxes, but also “the religious organizations of the other Christian confessions”. It has been done for the first time in history!  Then, on 13.04.2010, as if by chance, the meeting of pastor Leiser was organized with A. Buldin (the deputy chief of the Krasnodar Territory Governor Administration Directorate for the political parties, public and religious organizations and for the control of the migration processes) and V. Prilepskiy (the chief of the public organizations department of the above mentioned Directorate). Thus, the DOM ARM Spiritual activity has evidently begun to influence the society of the Krasnodar Territory.

REPRESSIONS. The unknown persons threatened with the phone call to explode the bomb in sport palace “Olymp” on 04.04.2010, where the Krasnodar Pentecostals were to organize a big service with about 10 000 participants. Thus, the police prohibited to have the service and ordered to evacuate all the believers.

SUPPORT. We received the March ARM support through Max Goins “We-Go” system OK. We received also the letters, e-mails, phone calls of support from Rod Farthing (USA), E.P. Alyoshin (Germany), E. Novosyolov (Switzerland), A. Hamzin (Crimea, Ukraine).

In Jesus our hope!

Dr. Nicholas E. Alyoshin

Korean Report

Dear Brother & Sister in the Jesus Christ

I deeply appreciate your pray and support this year. I could perform ministries for prisons, reformatories, the released and family of prisoners owing to you. These days, Korea comes to a crisis for some reasons. There is on the increase to ask our help and support on account of adversity in Korea. This ministry doesn't interest by anyone. But Our Lord has helped us to do missionary works for prisoners in spite of decrease in mission money.

As you know, we usually visit 9 prisons and 2 reformatories 15 times a month. We preach to them, support the bibles and books about the religion, counsel and help training discipleship.

 2010' Prison Revival/Easter Service

The Stump Mission held the Revival at the Chungjoo Female Prison and Chungjoo Prison. The revival consisted of  Pastor Sang Ho Kim's sermon and Decken Sungjoon Lim, who is a disabled man performing with his nose. It was such a gracious time with a new decision and recovery in Christ for the prisoners. The Easter Service (April 8, 2010) held in Daejeon Prison  supported by Mission with Pastor Sang Ho Kim's sermon, the choir of the Church and the performance of the Leejungin Contemporary Missionary Dance Group.

 The 9th Revival in China

Pastor Sang Ho Kim held the revival in China at five different cities  during the one week from March 22-29, 2010. This mission was prepared for the Han Ethnic Society, especially. The two provinces united together for this Revival and the underground Seminary joined together with their mission for disciple training and Bible study. The wonderful mission of the Holy Spirit works in China and will continue.

The fasting prayer in Passion Week in Prisons

The fasting prayer meeting held in each prison: Daejeon Prison, Kongjoo Prison, Chungjoo Prison and Chungjoo Female Prison with prisoners, the staff of and volunteers for the Mission from April 6 through April 11, 2010. This prayer meeting helped people who wanted to participate in the Passion of Christ. Many people contributed with a special offering of $50 each instead of a dinner; and these donations will be used for the prison mission.

May the good Lord help you and guide you always as you continue serving Him.

Sincerely, Sang Ho Kim  --Stump Brothers Mission
