ARM's Rapha House (Home for Girls) in Cambodia

ARM is ministering to needy girls in Battambang, Cambodia, through the Rapha House. These girls have been victimized in the human slave trade.  Some are as young as 5 years of age. As the number of girls continues to grow -- we've just doubled our residential capacity with a SECOND Rapha House!   We appreciate those who can continue to support  -- and perhaps increase that support -- as we soon double the number of girls at the home.
Dear Sourm, Cambodian Director of Rapha House, files a report each month; here, in black, are excerpts from his latest:

This report is being prepared when a delegation from the ARM’s headquarters at the USA was visiting the Rapha House. The delegation was led by Kerry Decker and Bill Blair. The visit lasted ten days, with effect from November 17 to 25, 2007. During their visit the team members performed many activities. They preached at the church, led devotions, led Bible classes, and taught classes on topics of all kinds -- from other cultures to substance abuse to personal hygiene.

Rapha House is now supporting 54 girls at the center and 10 girls at the Half-way Home for reintegration -- 64 total.

A new school term began the first week of October. There are twenty girls of various ages attending school this term. We provide all the school girls with proper uniforms and supplies. Since the number of girls going to school increased we needed a bigger vehicle. We were able to obtain another vehicle.  Editor's note: Any support for the new vehicle, the furnishing of the new building, or increase in operational support is greatly appreciated!

The new building has been completed and will be open soon, God willing. All our girls aged 5 to 15 will be placed there. So our capacity has been increased 100.  A recently taken photograph is placed here:

The first home was built for 48 -- we have now a total of 64 girls.  The staff has been preparing in every way possible to be able to care for additional girls.  Additional operational expenses will be needed as we serve even more girls. Thanks!

ARM's Branch Ministry in Thailand
Daughters of Ruth Home/ Prison Ministry
ARM's Minister in Thailand is Boonlerd Chompukeeree

Boonlerd filed this report recently:  We have one more girl at Daughters of Ruth Home. She is 18 years old. She was released from prison where she was sentenced for several year's imprisonment for drug case.  She had no place to return to -- her parents and her sister are all in prisons.  She is a lively and nice girl. We are now planning for her to continue her study with us.

Joe Garman recently wrote up a summary of what the "DOR" is all about:

DID YOU KNOW THAT …

… even in Thailand's enlightened age and progressive society, the number of child prostitutes is expected to grow?  This is one of the reasons the DAUGHTERS OF RUTH FOUNDATION was founded – to help girls coming out of the detention center, jail or prison, to have a place to come where they can receive protection and shelter while they prepare themselves to become productive citizens.

… the underlying causes of child prostitution in Thailand are cultural traditions, lack of education and poverty? At the DAUGHTERS OF RUTH HOME all the little girls are automatically enrolled in school and the Girl Scouts, while the older girls are taught job skills at the home … none go hungry.

… a girl who has both mother and father in prison can find herself on the streets doing drugs, joining gangs and stealing because, in many cases, she has absolutely no where else to turn? That's why 21 of our 26 DAUGHTERS OF RUTH are girls who have both parents in prison. Sometimes neighbors and relatives would like to take them but they themselves live in extreme poverty – at other times no one wants to affiliate with them because they come from such dysfunctional families.

… all girls at the DAUGHTERS OF RUTH HOME come to us from Animism, Buddhism, or Ancestral worship? Today, all but the two youngest (both age 7) are Christian. And I wish you could attend one of their worship services. They have a living relationship with Christ that cannot be denied, and it is very evident when the pray and sing.

… according to studies, the risk of a girl being lured onto the streets is increased if a friend or older sister is already living on the streets, one or both of the parents are dead or in prison, the family of the girl is desperately poor, the girl is living with friends or relatives, the parents are alcohol or drug dependent, or the parents are divorced? We have girls from each of these categories.

… you make a profound impression on these girl's lives each time you pray for and support of the DAUGHTERS OF RUTH?

Editor's note:  Our "Daughters of Ruth" rented facility is being stretched to the max!  We hope to build soon on property purchased recently.  Gifts of any size may be sent to ARM/DOR, Rt. 5 Box 159, Salem, MO 65560.

ARM's Branch Ministry in Mexico

Report From Alfredo José Aparicio

Dear brethren in Christ,

May the Lord of all Love and Consolation be with you all.   We have experienced so many natural disasters in Mexico that all seems unbelievable and apocalyptic.  My family and I had visited some of those areas where disasters have occurred in Mexico.  Desolation and death prevails now in these areas.  There is no doubt that the Lord is coming soon!

The fact that I am involved in the ministry means heavy loads of work and being busy all the time.  Evangelism has been our mainly focus lately.  Also, we have been very busy with the teaching and preaching.  Besides, I have been involved in helping the sick and needy.  There have been days in which I do not eat all day but until night, and only supper.  However, this morning, I was able to have breakfast.  I had two quesadillas, one made with picadillo and the other one with squash flowers.  But, this evening, at 7:00, on my way to my office from a work meeting down town Mexico City, I started feeling weak, riding the subway.  I felt so thirsty that I decided to get off.  I went to a little restaurant and had dinner.  Afterwards, I felt relieved and strong again.  Now, I am writing this report.

During October we had 28 baptisms.  Most of these people are young, in between 17 and 32 years old.  Most of them decided to get baptized after finishing our lesson entitled “The Beginning of the Spiritual Life.”  This study deals with baptism.  Also, as a result of handing out a tract entitled “How to Heal a Sick Heart”, we had 2,070 new students enroll in our Bible Correspondence Courses.  The quantity of tracts we handed on the streets were 10,000.  It was a lot of work, but the results are so great!

Our brethren and Bible Students in the States of Tabasco, Chiapas, Veracruz, and Oaxaca have suffered many loses due to the heavy rains.  They lost almost everything.  They lost their crops, cattle, homes, and all.  People are still living on their roofs, with relatives, in shelters, and some have moved out.  We have received phone calls every day requesting prayers to heal their sadness, pain, lost, and so on.  Some have not eaten for a whole week already.  It is painful to hear them so desperate and in great need.  I am encouraging our brethren to help at this time of need.  It is so great to see our brethren helping.  Most of our brethren suffering will have to start from nothing again.  Please pray a lot for them!

Due to the material lost, many stopped to think on their lives.  At the Jail in Teziutlán, State of Puebla, they are requesting 270 Bible Courses for the inmates.  They are requesting our prayers, as they are terrified by so much pain and sadness from the people who lost everything.  Now, the inmates are considering their own standing before the Lord.

Just recently, we noticed that our Bible Lessons were deleted from our web page.  The thousands of students we have on the internet started calling us asking for the courses.  Some one, who did not like our courses, went in and deleted them all.  We thank the Lord that Alejandro González up loaded them again.  Many times we had our course on baptism deleted before, but this time some one deleted all of our lessons.

I am so glad and grateful to Southeast Christian Church at Parker, Colorado, as they are donating the money needed for our first Christian Camp in Cuba.  I have shared the good news with our brethren in Cuba already.  They responded with great joy and tears of happiness.  They are so happy and will experience the meeting of many Christians in one place at the same time.  They thank you and send their warm tropical love and greetings.  They are also praying for you all!

With all of my heart, I thank you for your thoughts and prayers on our behalf.  God bless you for your efforts in helping us spread the Gospel all over.

Yours in Christ Jesus,
Alfredo José Aparicio

ARM's Branch Ministry in Russia

Report From Dr. Nicholas E. Alyoshin

IMMERSIONS. I had two meetings (on 18.10.2007 and 20.10.2007) in Simferopol (Crimea, Ukraine) with E. Filipyeva - the chairwoman of the "Aibolit" charity foundation to work with the convicts, prisoners, etc. She had a problem in her work, saying that she and her co-workers did not feel the Spiritual basis for their work. I explained to her, that "other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Cor., 3:11); and that to be also in His resurrection one must be immersed into His death (Rom., 6:3-5). Thus, it is necessary to preach Christ to the people, whom "Aibolit" is working with and to immerse them. The Lord Jesus has given Filipyeva and her co-workers the wisdom to understand the significance of the immersion. During our last meeting she informed me, that "Aibolit" had begun the immersions: a medical doctor to serve in the prison camp near Kerch had been immersed into the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit by the "Aibolit" ministers.

PRISONS. Alexander SHAMPAROV (whom we immersed in September) began the new attempt to liberate bro Krasnobryzhev from the prison psychiatric hospital in Oryol (1 000 km North from Krasnodar). The Oryol district court rejected this attempt, but Shamparov being now the Christian, will continue the fight to liberate our psychiatrically repressed bro. October was the month of mutinies in Russian prisons: 08.10.07 - a mutiny and hunger strike in Samara prison (after the death of the tormented convict); 16.10.07 - a mutiny in Sverdlovsk area Kirovograd town prison camp: 2 convicts and 1 guard were killed; 12 convicts and 6 guards were wounded; 25 - 26.10.17 - a mutiny in Leningrad area Metalstroy-town prison camp; 29.10.07 - a hunger strike in St.-Peterburg "Kresty" ("Crosses", in English) Prison; 30.10.07 - the human rights activists released the documentary film about the torments in Russian prisons. The Russian correction institutions have become now the front line of the Spiritual and political fight.

MOSLEMS. The Meskhetian Turk elder Isrofil Lutfiev has successfully emigrated to the USA. In 2003 Joe Garman, Max Goins, Tim Brinly and I were the guests in his house. Joe Garman prayed there. Isrofil received the New Testament in Turkish, he spread such New Testaments among his brethren, he spread also the film "Jesus" in Turkish. Now, being in America, he eagerly wants to communicate with Joe Garman and ARM ministers. He twice rang me up in October. His phone number in the USA is: 314-7731285.

On 19, 20, 21.10.2007 I met with the religious affairs reviewer of the newspaper "The Voice of Crimea" ("Golos Kryma" in Russian; "Die Stimme der Krim" in German - during 1941 - 1944) and my good friend Ibraim Abdullaev. He is ready to write down about the problems of the Crimea Lutheran congregation (confiscated and un-returned temples, etc.) and to organize a big public campaign around it. But, alas, the German Lutheran Evangelish congregation of Simferopol is afraid very much. We took part in the Lutheran service in Simferopol on 21.10.2007 and spoke with the pastor ("pfarrer") - Vladimir Lesnoy. The Lutherans want to receive the help from abroad, but they are not sure, if it is necessary to write down the articles in mass-media, etc.

In Jesus our hope!
Sincerely,  N.E. Alyoshin--DOM ARM chaplain, prof., etc.
