NEWS RELEASE
In April 2006, Joe and Linda Garman traveled to
Cambodia to dedicate ARM’s new home for girls. RAPHA HOUSE shelters 33
girls but has capacity for 50 children. Stephanie Freed is
the U.S.A. director.
RAPHA is the Hebrew for word "healing" and serves as a safe house
for girls who have been rescued from forced prostitution and slavery.
All but the two youngest, ages six and eight, have become Christians.
ARM thanks all who made this a reality.
The Kingdom of Cambodia officially recognizes RAPHA HOUSE as a
Non-Government Organization sanctioned to rescue "girls at risk".
While at ARM’s home the girls receive an education that will enable
them to rebuild their lives.
Moving forward in faith, ARM plans to build a similar facility in
Chiang Mai, Thailand, where they have been ministering since 2003.
This new home, DAUGHTERS OF RUTH, will shelter pre-teenage and teenage
girls upon their release from jail or prison.
One great frustration is that the majority of these girls have no
parole or probation program. When they complete their incarceration
the guard opens the front gate and they step out onto the street.
Many of the girls are gang-affiliated … most are drug-addicted …
some are homeless … but all are without God, without Christ and
without a hope in this world. ARM will provide them with counseling,
education, protection and shelter … in short, the chance of a better
and brighter future.
