ARM "Women's Island" in Cambodia

Report From Sath Sokha - ARM "Women's Island" in Cambodia

June, 2005

This month I have 3 new families associate with me to see my church at Women's Island and afterward they asked me to teach them about God and now also they become Christian and will go to church every Sunday. For the Women's Island now are growing in God's Word -- more understanding. The children need to know about children's rights because children in Cambodia often suffer very serious abuse.  All Christians in Cambodia are helping them because men in power gain from the exploitation of children. Please pray for suffering of people of Cambodia, now is the farmers time but it's still very hot and the river still deep. Thank you!  Blessing to you -- Sath Sokha

April, 2005

In Cambodia, I had one seminar for a few days with Joe Garman, Barbara Barger and Richard Rider. There are 13 people accepted Christ so in this year God will bless Cambodia more than last year. I would like to find the funds to help me build the church building at island for worshiping the Lord.  On the island there are 120 children who go to school depending on the boat -- 4 trips every day.  These are also Sunday school students.

From February 2004 to January 2005 the people on island heard the gospel -- 60 persons accepted Christ and were baptized.  So this is my burden to take care of them and teach them to be like Christ and help them grow stronger.  Thanks for your prayers for me and the work.

December, 2004

I am sorry to delay, because this time is Christmas day every churches invite each other and this time is harvest people busy but happy they invite friends or relative to see the fruit they had planned and also cooking food for their friends. Last few weeks Dr. Doug who visited our island with Sir Joe Garman last year, was with us on 21st Nov.  After I preached he opened small clinic to help the poor with free medicine.  Dr. Doug and his friend consulted with 20 patients -- gave very good treatment. On 28th the church member who received treatment came up to give testimony and praise God. One couple became stronger in the Lord because a sickness in his wife for along time now is better after she received treatment. The celebrating Christmas in my Church and Children's Club will be on 26 December together. So now all church members and my family is training for the music, Khmer dancing, acting, and sharing the gospel through drama to non believers.

Thank you!  Sath Sokha

September, 2004

Greetings from Cambodia.  I am sorry to delay. Since this is the rainy season (and 85% of Cambodians are farmers) I have been out of the city where there is no place to email. On August 16, three government authorities came to Christ.  This may open the door to the use of some land where some small businesses could grow and help the poor people here. So please pray for my ministry on the island.  Also pray for us since some areas are not getting enough rain and the hot weather is hard on the plants.  Some areas have too much rain and it is bad for the island, the plants, and the people.  Please pray that we would have no more flooding.  The small group Bible studies are going well, but we need some Bibles.    --- God bless you,  Sath Sokha

Since January of 2004 I have needed to extend my ministry on the island because I had not been allowed to share the Gospel with other women or village people.  So I moved the church shelter to the center of the island because the village people need the gospel too.  I had to then repair another old boat so I could help the poor people in island and the other widows that have no help couldn't come to attend the service.  But when I moved the shelter all can attend.

On 14th of February I preached the Gospel and 33 people accepted Jesus Christ!  But the people can't read or write.  On June 13th when Joe Garman preached the word of God in Psalm 23, ten people accepted Jesus Christ!  Thank God for helping me to work with the poor people in island.

In my house there is a club called "Little Friend for Jesus Cambodia."  My oldest daughter is the director of this club and she is helping as much as she can. In the club there are 4 foster children and 50 attend the Sunday school. My village is a very poor area -- AIDS, drug trafficking and addiction -- and children lack food. Neither do they have a school.   So we need help.  Thanks for your prayers!

During the last few months I am so busy.  I prepared the Christmas party and many places for invitation.  In January I shared gospel with people from USA  and Dr. Moses Samol Set at the provinces. At the end of the month I went to Kosh Kor island for preaching the gospel;  six people accepted Christ. On the 26,27, and 28 we went to Kampong Thom province, teaching Gospel of John to 230 people. The 3rd day 32 people accepted Christ and were baptized. On 14th February Bro. David Brackemyre went to island again and shared about creation. That time 37 people accepted Christ plus the 6 people from Bro. Joe Garman's work with us. On 22nd I was invited to attend the seminar at Kuala Lumpur Malaysia for 5 days for "Asia Cutting Edge," talking about sex slave trafficking and sexual abuse.  They want Christians to work together to help children in Asia --Cambodian situation is very serious.

Thank you!  God bless you. Sath Sokha.
