Update From Boonlerd Chomphukeeree -- ARM
Prison Chaplain in Thailand
August, 2005
Church Mission: On July 3, 10, 17, 24, 2005, we had
our normal worship in my office. On July 10, 2005, there was one
member whose wife has not yet become a Christian, came to ask us to
pray for her because she was under the consideration to be fired from
her work by her boss. So we prayed specially for her. The Lord
answered our pray, she is not fired from her work and can continue to
do her work. This makes the wife of that member interested in the
power of the Lord Jesus and she came to join us in the ceremony and
finally she has faith in Jesus the Lord and becomes Christian on 24
July 2005.
Prison Mission: On July 4, 18, 25, 2005, we went to the
Juvenile Home. On July 25, there were 5 young people who started to
have faith in Jesus the Lord and two of them came to tell me that they
wanted to do the work to serve God and they wanted to study the bible
after they are out of the Home. At the moment, the gospels of God have
had a very good response in the Juvenile Home both for boys and girls.
On July 11, 2005, we went to the
prison in Phayao Province. We went to announce the gospel of God in the zone of
the prisoners who are drug addicted and who are under the treatment. Everyone
seemed to be excited when they came to listen to me when I preached. We hope
that what we did today will have some results in the future. Moreover, on that
day, we had the opportunity to go visit the library of the prison there and we
went to see the corner for Christian books. Although it is not finished the work
completely, everything looks fine. We hope that the corner for Christian books
in the library in this prison will be the "media" in bringing the
gospels of God to the prisoners there.
Let us pray for the prisoners who
will be released from prison too, because from August 12 to December 5 of every
year, many prisoners will be relieved from the prisons.
Zao
(Laos) Evangelism:
The
Lord Jesus has answered our prayers because now there are many officers that
give help and support to the refugees who came to Thailand. There are about
7,000 refugees. Let us hope that the Love of God will bring peace and happiness
to this world. May God receive the highest honor in all the missions we serve
Him.
Love
in our Lord Jesus Christ -- Boonlerd

children are left from the prison. They went back home so blessed.
On 20, June 2005 we went to Phayao Province prison, Thank God there 5 persons
believed in Jesus Christ and some new persons come to study Bible with us.
Zao Evangelism Mission -- I would like you to pray for many from the Hmong tribe
in Lao that refuse to live in Thailand. They are the poor, no food ,
medicine for treatment, nor money or shelter. Glorify to God
with our work as service of God. With Love, Boonlerd
June, 2005
On 2, 16, and 23 of May, the
volunteer team and I went to the prison for children. To make the Bible easy for
the children to understand, we took a video of the 10 commandments that teach
about Moses' life. They very interested through this teaching and this month we
tested them about God's word and how God created the universe so many children
can get good score. We hope that if we change our strategy in teaching in
many ways we can make the children interested and that they will pay attention
to study God's word more and more. This month there are many children believing
in Jesus Christ our Lord. May God guide their life.
On 17 May 2005 volunteer team and I went to prison in Payao province. We
appointed one to be a leader of group to take care the group that come to study
God's word with us and to bring them to worship God on Sunday when we can't go
to join them. We required the group to worship God on Sunday to make them grow
up spiritually until they are strong in faith.
On 18 May 2005 I went to visit woman prisoners in Chiang Mai. We had many
people to worship with us -- about 250 persons. I preached about "the
death" in 1 Corinthians; we also shared some books, Christian magazines,
and Bibles with the prisoners. There are some prisoners to be released who
are looking for jobs and some wait for vocation training. May God lead
their life to get blessing and God's love. Everyone wishes them to start a new
life, to be good people in society, but the important thing is to give them
opportunity to have new life in Christ. Please pray for us -- we are
considering how to enlarge our mission in 2005.
April, 2005
On February 1, 7, 14, 21, 2005, we went to the
Juvenile home. The children there asked us when Brother Joe would come back to
see them again this month. (He was with me in January.) There were two
children ready to leave the Juvenile home. They told us that they would like
to continue their study. One girl said that she would like to study to become
a beautician and the other wanted to become dress-maker, but neither had funds
for their study. Let us pray for them.
On February 28, 2005, we went to Phayao Prison.
There was one prisoner who came to talk to me. He said that he would leave the
prison soon and he asked me if I could find him a job. Pray for released
prisoners to find work.
February 2005
On 10,17,24 January 2005 and 1 February 2005, we went to
Juvenile Home Chiang Mai Province. This month there is a girl
who has a little child and she is pregnant with another child.
Her husband is also in prison. Please pray for them also.
On 1 February 2005 Bro. Joe Garman went with
us too. We would like to thank God that 9 persons make
confessions of Jesus Christ.
On 31 January 2005, we went to Payao Center
prison, We went to the men and woman departments. Bro. Joe
taught God’s word; it was very interesting and comforts us very
much. I hope that God’s word that taught today will make the
prisoner repent to God and trust in God to receive eternal life.
The work of announcing the gospels of God in
Laos: A believer in Laos wrote a letter to me and asked us to
pray for 15 families of Vietnamese people -- that they might
find refuge from Vietnam and be able to live in Laos. They are
confronted with great poverty.
January 2005
I traveled to the Detention Center for girls on December 1, 8, 22,
and 27. We also organized a Christmas party for the girls,
celebrating the coming of God’s Son to earth. They were very excited
and full of joy. On December 24, I went to the Phayao Central Prison
to share God’s Word. We also held a Christmas party there and all of
the inmates enjoyed celebrating Jesus’ birth.
We are still planning on doing the Bible seminar for the Laotian
people but we have decided we must postpone it until we can obtain
the Bibles and materials necessary for the project. We are hoping
to have 200 Hmong Bibles, 100 Laotian Bibles, and 50 English
Bibles.
November,
2004
On November 3, 17, 24 I went to the Home for the
children, girls section. There were few girls who were released from the
Home this month and some more will also be released on December 5, 2204. May
God bless them and protect them and give them love and wish them good life
in the future. On November 26, 2004, I went to the Prison at Phayao. I met
an old man there who told me about his failure in his life and all the
mistakes he had made but now he wanted to change to a new person. Let us
pray for him and hope that the Lord will give this man the blessing, love
and he comes to know Jesus the Christ.
The work of announcing the words of Jesus Christ in
Laos: On November 8 and 15, 2004, two young Laotians came to me and told that
they would like to study the Bible. So I took them to attending the bible
study at the center for bible study for a short course. Let us pray for these
two young people (one boy and one girl). Moreover, let us pray for the budget
in organizing the bible study for the Laos people in January 2005, as we still
need a lot of funding. If we do not have enough funds, we may have to postpone
this training. Let us pray for printing our brochures, lessons, and textbooks,
as we still need more budgets.
November,
2004
On the 6th and 13th of October, I went to the
girls detention home. Several girls had done their time and were
allowed to return to their homes this month. I taught them about the
birth of Jesus Christ. Everyone seemed excited when we talked about
celebrating Christmas Day. We hope that everyone will be happy and
joyful on Christmas Day.
On the 15th of October, I went to the Central
Prison of Phayao Province. We have been going there to announce the
words of Jesus Christ for several months. May God bless our brothers
in the prison. We think that we will celebrate Christmas Day on
December 24, 2004 there.
We had the opportunity to teach God's
Word in Laos in October. We organized a Bible study for the Laos
people at Nong Khai. There were 10 people attending the training. We
spent more than 12 hours a day studying and answering questions about
the words of the Lord. Everyone was eager and attentive to study the
teaching of the Lord. We hope to organize one more session in January
2005. This time we will organize the leaders of the youth group.
October, 2004
On the five Wednesdays
of September, I went to the girls' section of the juvenile home. Two
girls there have faith in Jesus the Lord. After October, both these two
girls may be released from the Home to return to their own homes. Let us
pray for their future life. On September 1 I distributed 76 Bibles to
the children there. They were very happy to get the Bibles.
On September 20, 2004,
I went to the Central Prison in Phayao Province. There are now 16
people, 4 women and 12 men, who are seriously studying the gospel. Let
us pray that these people will have faith in God in the future. I
distributed 250 Bibles to the prisoners on that day.
September, 2004
On 4, 11, 18,
and 25 August, I went to the Home for Children, girls section. I taught
the gospel of God and asked them to memorize Bible verses (they tried
very hard to do it.) I taught them some short hymns, some guitar, and
some basis English. On August 4 we made papaya salad for lunch and ate
it together.
The girls have begun to have
interest to know more about God, and some have tried to pray by
themselves. Some have tried to practice reading the Bible by
themselves.
On 23 August, I went to the
Central Prison Phayao Province. I was very excited to have the
opportunity to teach the Bible smoothly and entirely because I had
divided the prisoners attending the activity into several small
groups. Everything went smoothly and things were more in order than
before. My plan for the future is to ask permission to go there two
times a month so that I will have more time to teach them the Bible.
I received letter from our
brothers in Laos that there are some Vietnamese people who have faith
in Jesus Christ and have immigrated to Laos. These Laotian people have
asked us to pray for these Vietnamese people who have fear, are poor
and suffer a lot. I have the intention to go visit these people in the
future. We will have the Bible study seminar for the brothers in Laos
on 8-10 of October 2004.
God bless you. Boonlerd
On July 5, 2004, I went to the Girls Detention Center. I taught from
Genesis about the Garden of Eden and sin. I also gave them some lessons
on cooking, teaching them some practical skills. I could see that they
enjoyed it very much. So my plan in the future is to go there more often
in order to teach them more about the Gospel.
On July 19, 2004, I returned to the Girls Detention Center. I taught
them 1 John 4:7-21. One group of girls is Burmese. They can not speak
Thai at all. They are detained because they entered the country
illegally.
On July 21, 2004, I went to preach at Phayao Prison. I preached from
the passage in 1 John 4:7-21-- "God is love." It was the first day that
we organized a smaller group of 70 people . There were 10 women
prisoners who joined us. Some other groups are interested in the Gospel
of Christ. I ask that you pray especially for them.
Report From Boonlerd Chomphukeeree -- ARM
Prison Chaplain in Thailand
Since this is my first report as an ARM chaplain, I want to introduce
myself. My name is Mr. Boonlerd Chomphukeeree. MY wife is named
Ketsaraporn . We have three children, two sons and one daughter. Our eldest
son is now studying electronic courses in a private vocational school.
Our younger son is in early secondary classes and our daughter is in primary
classes, both in a government school.
I thank God for giving me the opportunity
to do my evangelism work with the members of ARM. I also hope that the people
in the prisons will know about the gospel of God and will live the eternal
life. I have been teaching the gospel of God in the following two prisons
:
1. Chiang Mai Central Prison for Men. There
are about 3,000 prisoners here. They are from
different backgrounds: Thai, Thai Yai, Lahu, Yao, Lisu, Chinese, Hmongs, Aka,
Karens, Lao, Kachin, Lawa people, western people, Sakor people --
MANY cultural backgrounds. In each time we go about 200 to 500 persons
come to hear God's Word.
I announce the gospel of God, preach the Bible, sing new songs,
induce the prisoners to believe in Jesus Christ the Lord I also arrange
Baptism for the prisoners. I help them to worship God in the prison,
dividing into teaching groups according to their languages.
Now we have about 300 people believing in our Lord. I have set up a
Christian group with guardians to give advice and assistance. I
go to the prison from 8:00 - 12:00 on the first and third
Monday of each month.
2. Chiang Mai Probation Home for Boys. There are about 3,000 boys
here. I go to announce the gospel of God to the first group-- the ones
not yet convicted. The number of the boys in this group changes all the
time, and it is estimated at about 200 -300 boys. I
arrange the activities for the boys such as teaching songs, playing the
music, playing games, and teaching the gospel. At the same time I
give them ideas, ask them to memorize the words from the Bible, teach
them easy lessons, and show them the story of Jesus Christ on vide
tape. I go there is from 8:00-12:00 on the second and fourth Mondays each
month.
My responsibilities in the prisons can be divided in two main parts.
First, I seek to meet their physical needs. They need medicine, warm
clothes, shoes, etc. in the prison. As the are released, I try to help
them with funds for travel home or help in finding a job. Second, I seek
to meet spiritual needs by introducing them to Christ and encouraging faith in
Him. I baptize the believers and organize Christian groups in the jail.
I hope to expand my jail work soon by also serving in the prisons
in Payao and in Mae Sarieng. Please pray for me for the new work I will be
doing, as I still need many things. I pray God will give me what I need
when the time comes.
Your brother in Christ, Boonlerd. ARM
