Each year ARM places an average of 4,800,000 Greeting Cards
in American Correctional Facilities. DaySpring Outreach in Siloam
Springs, Arkansas, donates these beautiful all-purpose greeting cards
to encourage prisoners to keep in touch with their loved ones.
But ARM takes the greeting card ministry one step further. Instead
of sending the cards directly to the prisoners, we send them to the
prison chaplains, which means the prisoner has to go through the
Chaplain’s office to receive a card. We have received letters from
prisoners who have stated that their present walk with Christ began
with such a simple thing as going to Chapel to get a card.
It takes a lot of people to make this program move smoothly … 326
of them, to be exact. These men, women, boys and girls come from all
walks of life and from various Church affiliations. They travel to
Joplin from four different states … some once a month, some once a
week and others every day. We call them VOLUNTEERS IN NATION-WIDE
EVANGELISM (V.I.N.E.).
Each year VINE members contribute around 17,500 hours sorting and
counting cards and envelopes so they can be packaged and shipped to
America’s jails and prisons. If ARM paid minimum wage for their
labor it would cost the ministry in excess of $90,500. Praise God for
DaySpring Outreach and for each member of the VINE. Their true
contribution to the Kingdom of God trough ARM’s Christian greeting
card ministry is priceless.
